Where to Eat

I thought Id take a minute to offer up a Valentines Day Guide if you will. Greg and I go out to the Melting Pot every year for Valentines Day. We don’t always go ON the actual day sometimes we take the kids out on Valentines day and do our date on another night. This year we have a 7am flight on the day after so we are going to go out on the 12th. I like going to Melting Pot because its become a tradition for us. We have gone to Lindey’s, The Refectory, Tonys, M at Miranova, Smith and Wollensky, and Eddie Merlos for Romantic Dinners as well. A new favorite spot for us is Hen Quarter in Dublin at Bridge Park. We love the laid back sexy atmosphere. Greg and I sat down with the owner Ron recently and he talked about wanting to create an experience not just a great meal. Um yeah…..he did that. When you wall in the smooth music mixed with the very warm decor just makes you want to sit back and talk for hours. They just rolled out a new menu as well as a fixed Valentines day menu as well so if you have tried it already its definitely worth going back. What to wear

I am all about dressing up for dates, after all you can wear jeans any day. My opinion also comes from the facts that I am a busy mom of 3 so dates happen often but not often enough. I created a couple really wearable looks for inspiration but I think pretty much anything can go for Valentines Day. (on a side note if this is “Gal”entine’s Day for you then that’s all the more reason to go all out). I love color blocking any shade of pink with red and mixing in ivory as well. Another fun play on cliche Valentine’s Day color is Purple/Lilac with Red or Pink and Purple. Be creative, I truly believe that fashion is art. And what better day then to play up the color on the day of Love.

What to Give

Ahh the dilemma…Girls are easy, we like purses, shoes, clothes, shiny things, beauty appointments….the list goes on. I think men are much harder to buy for so I’m going to link a few things below that I think are thoughtful gifts at different price ranges. My personal favorite thing that Ive ever got for my handsome guy were these collar stays, they aren’t very expensive but they pack a punch. You can make them as sentimental or as naughty as you want (don’t ever ask to read his, insert innocent grin).

What to Do

Well I shouldn’t have to tell you this but…spend time together. If gifting isn’t your thing make the date an experience. There are lots of printable games online that help you to keep the conversation going. I am attaching a quick one that I drew up for an example. Greg and I don’t discuss work during personal time, being business owners you can easily let work consume you which isn’t good. I suggest these questions but there is also a game thats called Table Topics for Couples. Communication is a major problem in some relationships so I think these are cool ways to start convos about things you are thinking about but just don’t verbalize.
